Kanikosen (2009)
Aboard the Japanese crab ship ‘Kanikosen’ equipped with a cannery facility, workers are forced to labor under pitiful conditions at minimum wages. Some even die of cruel labor and malnutrition. And to top it off, the factory superintendent Asakawa (Hidetoshi Nishijima) is the most brutal sort who does not treat the workers as human beings. Shinjo (Ryuhei Matsuda), one of the workers, persuades the others that they should wish to become rich in their next life as there is no future for them in the present. So all of them try to commit suicides, which ends up in a comedy of errors. SHINJO then escapes the Kanikosen and is rescued by a Soviet vessel. He is astonished by the new social system on the vessel that is so much different from the one he left behind. In realization, Shinjo returns to the ship to save the others.

A strange chain of events follow, which exactly duplicate the events described in the ‘Book of Prophecy.’ Kenji and his former classmates are shocked to learn this horrible truth. If things are happening exactly as described in the ‘Book of Prophecy,’ then Friend's intention is to fulfill the doomsday prophecy. And Friend is most likely one of the kids they used to play with... As the events in the ‘Book of Prophecy’ unfold in their lives, Kenji and his former classmates decide to take on the villain. Time passes and now it's December 31st, 2000. This is the day described in the ‘Book of Prophecy’ as the day of mankind's demise.

Grotesque
Whereas Hostel was for kids, Grotesque is for adults. This is billed as the “cruelest Japanese splatter movie ever” and it truly lives up to that billing. It is no small relief that the film lives up to its Movie title, a torture porn genre that has largely taken over the horror field. No CGI effects here, just sadistic violence that rarely flinches away, use of excellent makeup and prosthetics and shot very convincingly. Needless to say, in the finest tradition of Japanese gore cinema, the plot is minimal, with a young couple played by AV actress Nagasawa Tsugumi and Kawatsure Hiroaki (recently in “OneChanbara”) being snatched off the street, only to wake up shackled in a grimy basement. Without even having the decency to explain why, a particularly sadistic madman (Osako Shigeo) proceeds to degrade, torture and mutilate them. This film is not for the faint of heart.

The Most Beautiful Night in the World
A reporter Mizuno (Tomorowo Taguchi) has been shunted off to a small village. Hirano (Takeshi Wakamatsu), the chief priest of a local Shinto shrine, tells him that Teruko (Sarara Tsukifune), the owner of a small bar where Mizuno has been with the chief correspondent, is involved with a cult sect and she is suspected of murders for insurance money. Eager to get a scoop so that he can return to the head office, Mizuno looks into the matter and questions Teruko directly. Teruko confesses that the men died suddenly during sex because she was "too good". She also says that her mysterious ability had been awoken after she put on a chastity belt to seal off herself. Mizuno fully realizes her ability.

A Heartful of Love

Kitaro and the Millennium Curse (2008)

Though she wants to make friends, she has trouble speaking up and holding a normal conversation like everyone else. It seems that whenever she talks, the words just don't come out correctly. Gradually, Ryo has gotten used to living life in silence as a lonely and introverted student. With no one to talk to, Ryo also has no need for a cell phone. Longing for friends to talk to, she creates a cell phone in her mind for imaginary phone conversations, and much to her surprise, one day Shinya (Koide Keisuke) picks up on the other side. For the first time in her life, Ryo has found someone she can talk to.

A 'kidnapper' holds a girl hostage until a ransom demand is paid from her father. In reality, the kidnapper is actually an advertiser, who has been beaten to a 3 billion deal and so takes his rival's daughter hostage. The girl later turns out to be more than she seems and turns into a handful for her 'kidnapper'.
